EUROSMART is most honoured to be invited to participate to the World IC Card Summit in Beijing in May 2007.

The World IC Card Summit is a major event for our industry and reflects the tremendous growth of the Asia Pacific region which offers so large opportunities of development and cooperation to innovative companies worldwide .

Our Association has been able to accompany the recent technological and economic changes, encouraging the cooperation of the industry and developing different initiatives both at the European and international level.

Eurosmart confirmed its position as a strong actor on the European scene by participating in the intense legislative work done at the EU level. The European Commission, aware of the many advantages of the product, secure and well accepted by the European citizen, decided to make reference to the technology in all regulations where it could apply: health cards, driver's licenses, vehicle registration documents…

To encourage and influence this trend, Eurosmart members prepared position papers and meetings with EU officials were arranged to share the Association's expertise and concerns.

Today, Eurosmart especially wishes to invite international organisations and governments to adopt high level security specifications to protect data privacy. The protection of private data in the context of the introduction of new electronic technologies and services will be of ever increasing importance worldwide.

On behalf of Jacques Seneca, Chairman of EUROSMART, I'll be very pleased to introduce the next steps of our mission and particularly the editing of a “vision paper” for our industry in 2020.
